Kylee Maloney

Access Consultant, Webmaster - Secondary Sight

Kylee Maloney is the consultant to the secondary sight project and, as such, is passionate about access for all.  as a trained typist, she has learned first-hand that being a user of adaptive technology does not automatically translate to knowledge of access issues, and has her own journey of learning around this.  She therefore hopes that you will find what she has written useful and helpful, and looks forward to continuing her learning with you. Kylee also enjoys singing, good wines and science fiction/fantasy, particularly Terry Pratchett and Stephen King.

Kathy Olsen

Director, Squiz New Zealand

Squiz believes that information is a key to human advancement, and has a vision of making online information easier for everyone to find, use, manage and share.  We pursue our vision through equipping our customers with the best systems, tools, training and support to create and manage their own online information. Kathy is committed to promoting ‘universal design’ as a means of ensuring online information is accessible to everyone.

Sean Woodliffe

Head of Support, Squiz New Zealand and Group Special Education, Ministry of Education Account Manager

Sean has been with Squiz Limited for approximately a year, heading up the support department.  After time he became the Account Manager for the Special Education sector of the Ministry of Education and thus helped build Secondary Sight and the community surrounding it. Sean has big views for accessibility throughout the web, shared by everyone involved in this project and hopes this work will take a step forward in the correct direction.

Neil Jarvis

Executive Director, Access Innovation and Enterprise., Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind.

Neil has worked in the field of adaptive technology for nearly 20 years, firstly in the UK and, since 2004 in New Zealand. He is also a totally blind person who uses the adaptive technology he has spent years working with, and was an early adopter of online services. The Adaptive Technology team which Neil leads at the RNZFB is playing an increasingly major role in advising business, Government agencies, local authorities and individual web developers on how they can make their sites both accessible and, just as importantly, useable to as wide a section of the population as possible.

Bruce Aylward

CEO W 3 A

Bruce Aylward has been working in website accessibility for over 6 years. It all started during a conversation with an aunt who has MS and he has been brow-beating people about it ever since. When he is not sorting out websites he likes to take off in a small aeroplane for a spin around the islands.

Bruce is the CEO for W 3 A, a web accessibility consultancy based in Wellington. They provide consulting, training and audit services to help organisations to make their sites more accessible to everybody and in particular to people with disabilities.

Dave Merton & Joanna Curzon

Group Special Education, Ministry of Education

Dave is currently the Project Leader for Inclusive.org.nz, a Special Education Community hub where all are welcome and diversity is valued. He is enjoying using new and emerging technologies to collaboratively develop a place that gives community members access to information that supports their teaching and learning journeys.

Joanna is currently the Team Leader: Research in the Ministry of Education, Special Education. She relishes opportunities to combine her fascination with technologies with her passion for social justice, particularly for people with disabilities
